However, you also have the option of completely turning off a badge app icon for individual apps. The Twitter app allows you to modify its’ notification settings to disable this option. Remove the Red Circle with the Number from the Twitter App Icon

The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 6 Plus, in iOS 8.4. We will be modifying the notification settings for the official Twitter app so that the badge icon is not used. The badge icon is the red circle with the number in it that indicates the number of notifications that you have missed. If you find that you prefer having that badge notification there after you follow the steps below, simply return to the Twitter notifications menu to turn the setting back on.

Step 1: Open the Settings menu.

Step 2: Select the Notifications option.

Step 3: Scroll down to find the Twitter option, then tap it to select it.

Step 4: Tap the button to the right of Badge App Icon to turn it off.You will know that it is turned off when there is no green shading around the button. This option is turned off in the image below.

Depending upon the other settings on this screen, you may still receive other types of notifications from the Twitter app. If you receive other notifications that you do not want, you can modify some of these other options as well. Or if you want to turn off all of the notifications from the Twitter app, simply turn off the Allow Notifications option at the top of the screen.
